browns and blacks?
Hi dolls and gents,
Dear Eclectic Ivy,
How do you feel about wearing brown and black together?
~Signed a curious shopper
Well Curious Shopper, when I was younger I didn’t really get the who idea of mixing and matching browns and blacks, but now, I kind of sort of get it. I think it’s okay to wear browns and blacks just don’t go overboard with other colors when mixing the two. When it comes to these two colors, I personally like to keep it simple. For instance, if you have on a solid black dress; sure throw on a brown belt and brown shoes.
Remember this: brown can break the monotony of an all black outfit and add some spice. Vice versa, a hint of black can rev up a brown-inspired ensemble. I prefer rich browns with black. My favorite browns to wear with black are: auburn, beige, burnt umber, chocolate, copper, russet, and rust. I would stray from khaki (could be I just don’t favor that color).
But don’t forget your prints! Remember, you have some prints like leopard that already have a combination of brown and black in the palette. Even nature wants you to wear these two neutral colors together. So don’t be afraid to wear them together. Just don’t try to wear black, brown and grey together. Let’s not over do it.
Try it out! Don’t be afraid. Don’t listen to that old myth you can’t wear brown and black together. Doll you can =)
