a closer look at the 80s inspired spring collection of ashish
Wow! The 80s is back with a vengeance in this collection from the look of the clothes to the styling of the hair. Whodathunkit that scrunchies would make an appearance on the runway this fall. I surely never did. This collection is extreme. You either like it or don’t. The clothes are mostly baggy and shapeless with denim, numbers, sequin, and polka dots showing up everywhere you look. The most unique denim look has to be the jeans and pants sewn together to create an off the shoulder jumpsuit. The polka dot tulle skirt over the oxford over the shorts is another unique look too. While most of the looks on the runway were extreme, there were some “toned-down” looks like the tank top paired with a maxi polka dot skirt. My favorite looks happen to be those that perfectly blend their 80s theme with a modern look like the “I’m Serious” sweatshirt paired with sequined shorts” or the sparkly tank top paired with sparkly sweats. Overall, this collection caught my eye because it made a statement. The designers behind Ashish had a theme in mind, and they definitely stuck with it. Bravo!
