I have a confession to make. I’m junky, disorganized, and prone to have clutter around me. Like seriously! I need someone to come to my house and fix my life. FIX ME!!!!!!!!!!!!! ORGANIZE MY HOME!!!!!! Ever since I was a young girl, I’ve had this problem. It followed me from my parents house to my dorm room to my home now with B. I seriously want to blame my parents for this shortcoming, but I know it’s all me. I just don’t have the energy to do anything about it. I wish I knew Ray J so he could grant me this one wish to declutter my home. Please and thank you. Like really, I need someone to come over and take care of it. Someone to Olivia Pope my house and tell me it’s handled. My sissy already came and whipped my closet into shape. Now, I just need the rest of the house to get that treatment. Can I close my eyes, count to three, and magically have everything put into its proper place? No? Well damn! I guess I will put my big girl panties on and tackle my house (hence that’s why it’s on my 2016 Vision Board). Thankfully, I found this awesome website, Clean and Scentsible that focuses on this. I’m going to start with her 31 Day Household Detox and follow-up with The Household Organizational Diet. EEK! I just have to remind myself that it might be a little overwhelming, but it must be done. I just have to remember that I CAN DO THIS. END OF STORY! I’ll keep you updated on my progress throughout the year!!!!!!!!!!!
Here are a few problem areas for me and a few organizational hacks from Wayfair to help me out:
#1 The kitchen
Between baby bottles, drying racks, cookbooks, pots, tupperware, and spices, my kitchen is a hot mess. I need some organization especially in the cabinets and on the countertops. They are both a hot mess!! Since you can see the countertops, I probably would focus on that first. Something as simple as this Seville Classics 2 Tier Sliding Basket Cabinet Organizer should help me organize my teas, the random seasoning packets, and other small items that junk up the counter. I could also use them to store some bottles there too.
#2 The living room
The mail cometh, and it never go awayeth! LOL! We need somewhere for it to go while we decide to keep it or discard it. I really just need to learn to read the mail and discard immediately. I also have a magazine hoarding issue. To stop this, I haven’t renewed any of my subscriptions. To be honest, it was getting out of hand, and I wasn’t reading any of them. Oh, and the TV that really doesn’t have a stand so the DVDs and Blu Ray have no real place to go. I really would love a TV stand to house these items something like this Beachcrest Home TV Stand. It’s perfect. It has room for the TV, Blu Ray, and DVDs plus additional storage options. Plus, its under $200. Getting organized shouldn’t be that costly.
#3 P’s room
She has lots and lots of clothes, but where will they go? Her dresser is already filled. We simply need to figure out how to maximize the space we have. And did I mention she has toys too? Toys she’s not quite big enough to play with, but she has them. =) I’ve already added her small library to the bookcase in the living room. Now, I need to find an organizational hack for the rest of her things. I’m thinking of getting her this ClosetMaid Decorative Storage with fabric bins to match the decor of the room! Her bibs, socks, and hats could go in those.
#4 The linen closet
ARGH! I can never find anything in there. Where are the sheets? Where are the pillowcases? Do those match? Where are my towels? Why are they over there? That closet screams for help! These Lynk Tall Shelf Dividers should do the trick. Yes!!!!! Now the towels have a place, and the sheets have a place. Every thing will have their own special place to go in my closet.
# 5 My (oops I mean our) closet
When I first moved into B’s house, he gave me an entire room for my closet, and I’m ashamed to say that I have not done much with it. And now that P is here, he needs to move his things into my domain. ARGH! I know caring is sharing, but I don’t want to do that. Since I’m trying not be petty in 2016 (it’s hard), I’m looking at closet solutions. The only hiccup is that the walls are slanted. Help!!!!!!!! Right now, I’m leaning toward something like this Space Pro Relax Recessed Closet Kit.If I can pull this off, I would be so happy!
P.S. Thanks to the kind folks at Wayfair who reached out to me and asked if I would love to participate in this blogger challenge. This really put my butt in gear. #getorganzied
