Well loves, I finally finished reading Dirty Rich One Night Stand by Lisa Renee Jones, and it was just okay to me. To find out more about the book and an excerpt, check out our release blitz here.
I tried really really hard to feel connected to the relationship budding between the smart, rich, powerful attorney Reese Summers and the smart, gorgeous, former attorney turned criminal reporter Cat Maxwell, but I just couldn’t. Turning the pages, I highlighted a lot of swoon-worthy quotes from Reese but the two of them together didn’t move me. Sure there was steamy sex, an intellectual meeting of the minds, and a HEA, but there was something missing for me.
Truth be told, I was more curious to see how Reese’s trial ended and who in fact killed the pregnant lady and unborn child.
Highlights: The trial of the century. Again, I really did want to know whodunit, and Reese with his melt by panties quotes like these:
“You always smell like fresh flowers in a city of smog and crime.”
“But I’m not him and I don’t chase women, Cat, but I’ll chase you.”
“I promise you, sweetheart, that every kiss, every touch, every lick, will be as good as the moment before your next orgasm.”
Just ok moments: Reese and Cat together.
My ratings: 3.5
Time it to read: 6 days.
I’m on the fence. You might like it, you might now. Not convinced that I like Lisa’s romance writing style, but I do love her who done it style. That’s probably the reason why I skimmed some of this book eager to find out the inner workings of his court cases.
